Traditional AI models, such as image classification and document text extraction (OCR), are often deployed as cloud services with exposed REST APIs, integrated into larger scenarios with ESB workflows. These models are referred to as supervised because they are trained using labeled examples. All major cloud providers offer services to streamline the training of supervised models. The design pattern for runtime after training is known as AI Models as a Service (MaaS). For instance, handwritten inspections received via email can be extracted and passed to the AI model exposed as a REST Service for data extraction, followed by an update of the destination Application.
